Andrew Eeten, also known as AJ, was born on December 20, 1986, in Galesburg, Illinois. He attended Eureka Schools, where he excelled academically. His hard work earned him a spot in the National Honor Society, an honor reserved for students who perform well in their studies. He was also very active in sports, especially basketball and track. He was a member of the 1A state champion track team, which was a huge accomplishment.
After high school, Andrew received a basketball scholarship to attend Illinois Central College (ICC). At ICC, he focused on his education and basketball skills. He continued to improve as an athlete, but after a couple of years at ICC, Andrew decided to further his education and transferred to Northern Illinois University. At Northern Illinois, he studied Physical Education with a minor in Spanish.
Early Career in Education
After graduating from college, Andrew started working in public education. He taught and coached in several schools, helping students learn and grow. While he enjoyed teaching and coaching, Andrew decided to try something new after a few years. He felt it was time to pursue a new career that would challenge him differently.
Transition to Retail Sales
In March 2017, Andrew decided to leave teaching behind and start working in retail sales. This new path began at T-Mobile in Washington, Illinois, where he worked as a manager. Andrew was in charge of managing the store’s daily operations, ensuring that everything ran smoothly. He also helped customers with wireless products and oversaw various store projects, such as marketing and audits.
Career Growth at Stanton Optical
In 2019, Andrew’s career took another turn when he became a manager at Stanton Optical in Peoria, Illinois. Here, Andrew continued to expand his expertise, working with eye care products like glasses and contact lenses. His role involved reviewing customer information, helping customers select the best eyewear, and ensuring they were fully educated on how to care for their glasses. Andrew also managed inventory, stock products, and customer orders.
In December 2023, Andrew moved to a new position as an optician at the Vision Care Center in Peoria. He reviewed customer information for glasses and contacts, measured customers’ eyes, and helped them choose the correct eyewear. He also continued to educate customers on how to care for their eyewear, ensuring they were comfortable and satisfied with their purchases.
